Burgate School and Sixth Form Production - Sister Act

Last week, Anita Joy Sanders Hairdressing had an incredibly fun assignment: we provided the hair styling for the cast of the School Play at The Burgate School & Sixth Form — the spectacular musical production of Sister Act Jr 2025.

We really do believe strongly in supporting our local community - especially when young people are shining on stage. Offering our services for this production allowed us to bring a bit of salon-magic to the theatre, boost the confidence of the students and help them look and feel amazing under the lights.

My daughters, Constance and Nancy, joined me behind the chairs too, which made the experience even more special.

• Visited the school ahead of performance week (there were 3 performances to support!) to meet the cast and understand what looks each character needed - from glitzy show-hair to stage-friendly styling.
  
• Created tailored hair looks which would hold up under stage lighting and movement, whilst staying comfortable for the young performers.
  
• Provided quick touch-ups during, so the hair stayed sharp for the final performance.
  
• Ensured the looks echoed the fun, energetic and uplifting tone of Sister Act Jr (complete with bold styles, neat finishes and flair for show-time).

It was a thoroughly enjoyable 3 evenings - meeting the students, working alongside the drama staff and watching the transformation unfold. The excitement backstage was palpable and our job was not just about styling hair but helping the cast step into their characters with confidence.

The final performances were sold-out and filled with laughter and applause.
